Warren Russell Lobdell papers, 1940-1944.

Correspondence, printed items, and photographs document the life, Air Force training, and combat experience of Warren Russell Lobdell (called "Russell"), native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Letters (1942-1944) written by Russell and his parents concern Russell's training and combat experience and his death during a mission in Northern France (June 27, 1944). Printed items include newspaper clippings, mostly from the newspaper STARS AND STRIPES, cards, and ephemera. Photographs depict Russell and his associates in the Air Force at Harding Field, Baton Rouge Louisiana, in New York, and in England. Included are aerial photographs of Baton Rouge and the campus of Louisiana State University.
